Description
All applicants, including children and infants, must personally submit their Schengen visa application on their scheduled appointment date.

Family members of EEA/EU and Swiss nationals are eligible to apply for a Schengen visa as EEA/EU Family members. This category allows for the submission of fewer documents compared to regular tourists and exempts them from paying the applicable visa fee. This privilege is applicable when traveling together with their EEA/EU or Swiss Family member. The eligible family members include the spouse, children, and registered partner.
UK travel documents:
If you possess a refugee travel document (1951 Convention travel document) or a travel document for stateless persons (1954 Convention travel document) and belong to a country that requires a visa for traveling to the Schengen area, it is mandatory to apply for a visa before visiting Iceland.

Documents Required
The list of documents provided below is not exhaustive, and the customer may be asked to provide additional information or documents if requested by the Mission.
Both the standard and supporting documentation must be recent, not older than one month, and must be provided for every Schengen visa application.
Applicants are required to bring and present their original documents, but they only need to submit photocopies unless specified otherwise.
Before gathering the required documents mentioned below, applicants are advised to carefully review the requirements under the Overview section to ensure eligibility for the chosen visa category.

- Visa application form (original) – Please refer to the link provided.
- Passport (original) – A signed passport with at least two blank pages for visa purposes. It must be valid for at least 90 days beyond the return date of the trip to the Schengen Area and should have been issued within the last 10 years on the day of departure from the Schengen Area.
Note: An extended passport may still be valid, but if it is older than 10 years, it is no longer acceptable. In such cases, the customer must first apply for a new passport.
- Photocopies of previous Schengen visas – If applicable, include photocopies of previous Schengen visas endorsed in an old passport and issued within the last 3 years.
- UK Residence permit – A valid UK Residence permit, either endorsed in the passport or issued as a Biometrics card, is required for travel to the Schengen Area. It must be valid for at least three months beyond the return date of the trip.

To support your Schengen visa application, you need to provide the following documentation:
- Proof of EEA/EU and Swiss national’s passport or ID
- Proof of relation to EEA/EU and Swiss national: marriage/birth certificate (original to be seen), if not in English, then translation by a certified translator in the UK of the same is required.
- Proof of joint travel: confirmed return travel tickets: mentioning both applicants and EEA/EU national family member’s names and travel dates to & from the Schengen Area.
Photo Specification
Please ensure that you provide a recent color portrait of yourself, taken within the last six months, which meets the following requirements:
- The photo should be captured against a light background, preferably white or off-white. This will help enhance your facial features and create a clear contrast with the background.
- The focus of the photo should be on your face, ensuring high clarity and sharpness. This will enable us to accurately identify and verify your identity.
- Your full face should be visible in the photo, without any grinning, sunglasses, hats, or other head coverings. Exceptions can be made if you wear such items due to your ethnicity or religion.
- The photo should be printed from a camera print on standard photographic paper. This ensures professional quality and durability of the image.
Please note that the photo must be affixed to the visa application form. Failure to comply with these specifications will result in an incomplete application. In such cases, you will be required to obtain fresh pictures from the photo booth at the visa application center.
Processing time
Applicants are welcome to submit their Schengen visa application up to six months prior to their intended travel date to the Schengen Area.
It is important to note that the minimum processing time for a visa application is 15 days. Therefore, it is highly recommended that applicants allow sufficient time between their appointment date and travel date for the Mission to process their visa application. Please be aware that delays may occur, and we cannot guarantee the exact return date of the visa application.
For certain nationalities, the visa application requires consultation from the other Schengen countries, which may result in a longer processing time. To avoid any delays in the visa application process, it is crucial that the application is complete, and all submitted documents meet the requirements set by the Mission. Please refer to the “Documents Required” section for specific visa categories.
Applicants should also take into consideration that during peak seasons such as Easter, summer holidays (July and August), and Christmas, appointment slots are quickly filled as the Mission can only process a limited number of visa applications per day. Additionally, please be mindful of Mission closures and holidays, as they may extend the processing time.
Therefore, we strongly recommend the following to all applicants:
- Book your appointment as soon as your travel plans are confirmed.
- Ensure that your visa application documentation meets the requirements specified by the Mission.
- Allow sufficient processing time for the Mission to review your application thoroughly.
Applicants submitting their visa application at our satellite center in Edinburgh should consider adding an additional two days to the minimum processing time. This is because the application will first be dispatched to the London office before being forwarded to the Mission in London the following day.
During the visa application process, the Mission reserves the right to request additional information or documents, as well as invite applicants for an interview. It is important to note that these requests or interviews may potentially lead to delays in the visa process. Applicants are kindly reminded to accept responsibility for any such delays that may occur.
