Description

Every customer, including children and infants, must personally submit their Schengen visa application on their scheduled appointment date, which must be booked online.

  1. The following family members of EEA/EU and Swiss nationals are eligible to apply for a Schengen visa as a family member of an EEA/EU or Swiss national. This means they are required to submit fewer documents than regular tourists and are exempt from paying the applicable visa fee when traveling together with their EEA/EU or Swiss national family member or when joining their EU family member who is already inside the Schengen Area:

– Spouse
– Parent(s) (only if the child is under 18 years old or if the elderly parent is cohabiting with the child)
– Child(ren)
– Registered partner

It is important to note that “family member” refers to:

– The spouse
– The partner with whom the Union citizen has contracted a registered partnership, based on the legislation of a Member State, if the legislation of the host Member State considers registered partnerships equivalent to marriage and in accordance with the conditions specified in the relevant legislation of the host Member State
– The direct descendants who are under the age of 21 or are dependents, as well as those of the spouse or partner as defined in point (B)
– The dependent direct relatives in the ascending line, as well as those of the spouse or partner as defined in point (B)

Please ensure that all necessary documentation is provided and that you meet the eligibility criteria before applying for a Schengen visa.

Parents of Union Citizens under the age of 21

A dependent person is defined as a third-country national who is supported by a European Union citizen or their spouse. This support is provided in the following circumstances:

  1. The dependent person is actively preparing for a future profession.
  2. The dependent person is unable to engage in gainful activities due to illness or injury.
  3. The dependent person is incapable of performing gainful activities due to a chronic adverse health condition.

Proof of dependency, if applicable, can be provided through a letter or statement from a relevant authority such as the government, tax authority, or health authority, confirming the dependency to the EU national.

It is important to note that EU family members from third countries are no longer exempt from the Schengen visa requirement when traveling from the UK to the Schengen area.

If a customer is traveling without their EEA/EU or Swiss national family member or is joining their EU family member who is already in the Schengen area, they cannot apply as an EEA/EU or Swiss national family member. Instead, they must apply as a tourist, providing all the necessary documents and paying the applicable visa fee.

Family members of UK nationals will no longer be considered EU family members and must apply as standard tourists.

Furthermore, holders of UK Residence Permits/Cards for EU Family Members are no longer exempt from the visa requirement when traveling to the Schengen Area.

Eligibility:

In order to be eligible to submit a Schengen visa application, customers must meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold a valid passport or travel document.
  2. Possess a valid UK residence permit.

The visa application can be made for various purposes, including tourist visits, visiting family or friends, business trips, or for EEA/EU and Swiss national family members. It also covers airport transit.

If you are an EU Family Member accompanying or joining an EU citizen who is applying at fac you will not be charged a visa fee. However, an additional fee may apply. Alternatively, you may choose to apply directly at the Consulate General, where no visa or additional fee will be charged.

We strive to provide a professional and efficient service to ensure a seamless visa application process for all our customers.

Documents Required

Please note that the list of documents provided below is not exhaustive, and the applicant may be asked to provide additional information or documents if requested by the Mission.

Both the standard documentation and supporting documentation must be recent, meaning they should not be older than one month. These documents must be provided for every Schengen visa application.

Applicants are required to bring and present their original documents during the application process. However, they only need to submit photocopies of the same, unless the requirements specifically state that an original document must be submitted.

Before gathering the necessary documents listed below, we strongly advise applicants to carefully read the requirements outlined in the Overview section. This will ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria for the chosen visa category.

  1. STANDARD DOCUMENTATION FOR SCHENGEN VISA APPLICATION
  2. Visa application form (original) – please refer to this link for the form.
  3. Passport (original) – a signed passport with at least two blank pages for visa purposes is required. The passport must be valid for a minimum of 90 days beyond the return date of the trip to the Schengen Area. Additionally, the passport must have been issued within the last 10 years on the day of departure from the Schengen Area.

Please note that while an extended passport may still be valid, if it is older than 10 years, it is no longer acceptable. In such cases, the customer must first apply for a new passport.

Please ensure that you include photocopies of any previous Schengen visas that were endorsed in your old passport and issued within the last three years, if applicable.

UK Residence permit

Additionally, it is necessary to provide a valid UK Residence permit, either endorsed in your passport or issued as a Biometrics card. This permit must be valid for at least one month beyond the return date of your trip to the Schengen Area. If you hold a C type visitor visa, please refer to the provided link. In such cases, a Schengen visa application can only be accepted for Essential Travel, which includes purposes such as business, study, family reunification, health or humanitarian reasons, and EU Family Members accompanying the corresponding family member. Please note that the acceptance of your application is subject to analysis by the Mission.

Please include an original photograph with your application.

  1. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION FOR SCHENGEN VISA APPLICATION
  2. EEA/EU and Swiss national’s passport or ID card (original document to be presented for verification).
  3. Proof of relation to EEA/EU and Swiss national: marriage/birth certificate (original document to be presented for verification). If these documents are not in English, a certified translation in the UK is required.
  4. Proof of joint travel.

If you are joining an EU family member who is already in the Schengen Area, you must provide a signed declaration from the EU Family member stating that you will be meeting inside the Schengen Area. Alternatively, you can provide proof of stay with both your names.

Photo Specification

Please submit one current color portrait of yourself that is no older than six months that satisfies the conditions listed below:

  • Captured on a light background (white or off-white) to make features stand out and contrast with the background.
  • Face-focused and of high clarity
  • Full face: not grinning, no sunglasses, no hats or other head coverings, unless the applicant is wearing them due to his or her ethnicity or religion.
  • Printed from a camera print on standard photographic paper.
  • The photo that is adhered to the visa application form

The visa application will be deemed incomplete if the submitted photos don’t fulfill these specifications (see examples here), and the applicant will be asked to take fresh pictures in the photo booth at the visa application center.

Application Form

In order to obtain a Schengen visa for Poland, it is necessary for every customer to provide a signed printout of the online Schengen visa application form (VAF). To ensure a smooth process, customers must follow these steps:

  1. Begin by duly completing and printing the online Schengen visa application form, ensuring that the information matches the details on their passport.
  2. Click on the Schengen Visa Application form link provided, which will open the form in PDF format.
  3. Carefully fill out the online visa application form, making sure to provide accurate and complete information.
  4. Once the form is completed, select “File” in the Menu bar and choose the “Print” option. Confirm the printing process to obtain a hard copy of the application form.
  5. After printing the online Schengen visa application form, the customer should proceed to the remaining steps.
  6. Sign the completed visa application form in the designated places, specifically at number 37 and right under the disclaimer at the end of the VAF.
  7. On the day of the appointment, the customer must bring the signed visa application form along with all the necessary supporting documents.

By following these instructions, customers can ensure that their visa application process for Poland proceeds smoothly and efficiently.

Processing Time

Customers are advised to submit their Schengen visa application up to 6 months prior to their intended travel date to the Schengen Area. It is important to note that the minimum processing time for a visa application is 2 weeks.

Therefore, it is recommended that customers allow sufficient time between their appointment date and travel date for the Mission to process their application. However, it is important to understand that delays may occur, and there are no guarantees on the return date of the visa application.

The visa application requires consultation from other Schengen countries, resulting in a minimum processing time of more than 3 weeks. To avoid any delays in the visa application process, the application must be complete, and all submitted documents meet the requirements set by the Mission.

Customers should also be aware that during busy seasons such as Easter, Summer holidays (July and August), and Christmas, appointment slots are quickly filled as the Mission can only process a limited number of visa applications daily. Additionally, customers should take into consideration that Mission closures and holidays may further extend the processing time of the visa application.

Therefore, we strongly recommend the following to all customers:

  1. Book your appointment as soon as you know your travel plans.
  2. Ensure that all documentation in your visa application meets the requirements set by the Mission.
  3. Allow sufficient processing time for the Mission to review your application.
