Documents Required

Please note that the list of documents provided below is not exhaustive, and the Mission reserves the right to request additional information or documents as deemed necessary.

Both the standard and supporting documentation must be recent, not older than one month, and must be provided for every Schengen visa application.

Applicants are required to bring and present their original documents during the application process. However, photocopies of the same documents are sufficient, unless specifically stated otherwise in the requirements.

Before gathering the necessary documents listed below, applicants are strongly advised to carefully review the requirements outlined in the Overview section to ensure their eligibility for the chosen visa category.

STANDARD DOCUMENTATION FOR SCHENGEN VISA APPLICATION

To ensure a smooth and efficient Schengen visa application process, it is essential to provide the following standard documentation:

Visa application form (original) – Please refer to the provided link for the official visa application form.

Passport (original) – Your passport must be presented in its original form.

Signed passport with at least 2 blank pages for visa purposes – It is crucial to have sufficient blank pages in your passport to accommodate the visa. Additionally, your passport must be valid for a minimum of 90 days beyond the return date of your trip to the Schengen Area. Furthermore, the passport should have been issued within the last 10 years on the day of departure from the Schengen Area.

Extended passport validity – While an extended passport may still be valid, it is important to note that if it is older than 10 years, it will no longer be acceptable for the visa application. In such cases, the customer must first apply for a new passport.

Photocopies of previous Schengen visas – If applicable, please provide photocopies of any previous Schengen visas that were endorsed in an old passport and issued within the last 3 years.

UK Residence Permit

A valid UK Residence Permit is required for travel to the Schengen Area. This permit can be endorsed in your passport or issued as a Biometrics card. It is important to ensure that your permit is valid for at least one month beyond your planned return date from the trip.

If you hold a C type visitor visa, you may proceed with a Schengen visa application. However, please note that the acceptance of your application is subject to analysis by the Mission. This analysis will determine if your travel falls under the category of Essential Travel, which includes purposes such as business, study, family reunification, health or humanitarian reasons, and EU Family Members accompanying their corresponding family member.

Please ensure that you provide an original photograph along with your application.

Regardless of the visa category being applied for, every minor is required to submit the following documents as part of the Standard Documentation:

Birth certificate: An unabridged birth certificate that clearly states the names of the biological parents. If the certificate is not in English, a certified translation by a translator in the UK is also necessary.

Consent from parental authority/legal guardian: A written consent, signed and dated, granting permission for the minor to travel. The original or a certified copy of the parental authority/legal guardian’s passport must be provided through a local or international notary service.

In the case of a single parent: If the parents are divorced or if one of the parents is deceased, proof must be provided. This can be demonstrated through a court/residence order (original document to be presented) or a certificate (original document to be presented).

Parent’s Passport: Both parents must have their original passports available during the application process. If either or both parents’ original passports are not present, a notarized copy of the passport’s bio data page is required.

Proof of guardianship: A certified letter of guardianship is necessary to establish legal guardianship.

1. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION FOR SCHENGEN VISA APPLICATION

In the case that a minor is applying for all visa categories except EEA/EU and Swiss National Family Member, the following supporting documents are required:

Proof of current occupation:

1. Original student letter: A recent letter (less than 1 month old) from a UK school/college/university, addressed to the Mission, signed by an authorized individual, and confirming the minor’s enrollment.

Proof of funds (from 1 parent):

50. Latest 3 months UK current account bank statements: These statements should show the minor’s parent’s name, address, and an end balance dated within the last month of the visa application submission date. The balance should reflect a minimum amount of £50.00 per day of stay in the Schengen Area, in addition to outstanding accommodation and travel fees. Alternatively, online bank account printouts are also accepted.
51. Travellers’ cheques: These should cover the same amount as explained under point a.

Proof of travel (airplane, train, boat, coach, (hired) car):

1. Confirmed return travel tickets: These tickets should clearly mention the minor’s name and travel dates to and from the Schengen Area.
2. When traveling by car: Car registration, car insurance, return travel tickets (ferry or Eurotunnel) should mention the car’s registration number and driver’s driving license. Additionally, a signed and dated cover letter from the driver confirming joint travel with the minor and providing travel dates is required.

If travel tickets have been paid through a travel agency, a receipt, invoice, or payment confirmation is also required.

Proof of Accommodation

1. Confirmed accommodation (hotel, hostel, camping, etc.) reservation must include the minor’s name, travel dates, and accommodation address details.

If the minor’s name is not mentioned on the accommodation reservation, a joint travel confirmation letter must be provided. This letter should be signed and dated by the person whose name is on the reservation. Additionally, a photocopy of that person’s passport/ID card, along with the passport signature page (if the signature is not on the passport’s bio page), must be included.

In the case of group reservations, a list of the group members’ names will also be required. Alternatively, the group members’ names may be mentioned on the travel ticket.

1. If accommodation is provided by family or friends in Luxembourg, a recent cover letter from the host is required. This letter should be signed and dated, confirming the travel period and address of stay. Along with the cover letter, a copy of the host’s passport’s bio page must be provided. If the host is a non-EU citizen, their permit of stay in Luxembourg should also be included.

When applying through the Consulate in Manchester, the host in Luxembourg must provide a declaration of support legalized by a Notary Public (for visa applications in Manchester and Edinburgh).

Travel Insurance (All-Risk Medical Travel Insurance)

The travel insurance must clearly show the minor’s name and be valid throughout the entire territory of the Schengen Area. It must also cover the entire period of the minor’s intended stay in the Schengen Area. The minimum coverage for medical emergency and repatriation (including a clause in case of) must be €30,000.

Please note that the above-mentioned documents and requirements are necessary to ensure a smooth and successful visa application process.

When a minor is applying as a family member of an EEA/EU or Swiss national, the following documents are required:

1. Original passport or ID card of the EEA/EU or Swiss national (to be presented for verification).
2. Proof of relationship to the EEA/EU or Swiss national, such as a marriage or birth certificate (original document to be presented). A certified translation in the UK is necessary if these documents are not in English.
3. Evidence of joint travel arrangements, including airplane, train, boat, or coach tickets.

For travel by car, the following additional documents are required: car registration, car insurance, return travel tickets (ferry or Eurotunnel) with the car’s registration number and driver’s driving license mentioned. A signed and dated cover letter from the driver confirming joint travel with the minor and travel dates must also be provided.

If travel tickets have been purchased through a travel agency, a receipt, invoice, or payment confirmation is also necessary.
