Description

Please note that Denmark no longer represents Iceland for visa applications in the UK. For Iceland visa applications, please refer to the appropriate source.

Every customer, including children and infants, must personally submit their Schengen visa application by appointment, which can be booked online.

For non-EU citizens who are unsure whether a Schengen visa is required to travel to the Schengen Area, please click on “Do I need a visa?” to find out.

Eligibility:

In order to be eligible to submit a Schengen visa application, customers must meet the following criteria:

  1. 1. Hold a valid passport or travel document.
  2. Hold a valid UK residence permit. If the customer holds a short stay visa for the UK (C type visa), they must apply for a Schengen visa from their country of residence. However, customers may apply at any Danish mission outside their residence country if they have a valid reason for not applying in their residence country, such as the absence of a Danish mission or a new urgent situation arising during their stay in the UK (e.g., a new business trip or serious illness of a relative in Denmark). Please note that written confirmation from a doctor or hospital in Denmark is required.
  3. Apply for a short stay visa for purposes such as tourism, visiting family and friends, attending conferences (including minors), business, or as an EEA/EU family member.

EEA/EU National Family Member (including Minors):
Customers planning to travel to Denmark as a family member of an EEA/EU national must check the visa requirements specific to their situation.

Minors:
Customers who are under 18 years of age when submitting a Schengen visa application as an EEA/EU family member.

Due to European legislation regarding the protection of children/minors, it is important to emphasize that minors who do not provide all the required documents may not be granted a Schengen visa.

Documents Required

Please ensure that you print this Checklist and prepare the necessary documents accordingly. Additionally, please prepare an extra copy of your Passport ID page for Passport Collection.

In addition to the documents listed on the checklist, all customers are required to provide the following:

– A color copy of their British resident permit.
– If you are submitting any birth or marriage certificates, please provide both a color copy and the original certificate/s. The original certificate/s will be returned to you once they have been verified.
– You are also required to submit all of your previous passports for the application.

Please note the following:

– It is important to ensure that your application contains accurate and complete information. All information must be correct and reflect your planned trip.
– If any document is missing on the submission date, additional documents can only be submitted by customers themselves at the embassy within 5 business days.
– Customers may be asked for additional documents or called for an interview if deemed necessary by the Embassy.
– Please visit the Danish Embassy’s New to Denmark Website for further information regarding the required documents.

Photo Specification

Please submit one current color portrait of yourself that is no older than six months that satisfies the conditions listed below:

  • Captured on a light background (white or off-white) to make features stand out and contrast with the background.
  • Face-focused and of high clarity
  • Full face: not grinning, no sunglasses, no hats or other head coverings, unless the applicant is wearing them due to his or her ethnicity or religion.
  • Printed from a camera print on standard photographic paper.
  • The photo that is adhered to the visa application form

The visa application will be deemed incomplete if the submitted photos don’t fulfill these specifications (see examples here), and the applicant will be asked to take fresh pictures in the photo booth at the visa application center.

Application Form

To apply for a visa, applicants must complete an online visa application form known as the Visa Application Form (VAF). It is important to note that the application form cannot be filled out by hand.

To begin the application process, each applicant must duly complete and print the online Schengen visa application form by following these steps:

  1. Click on the Schengen Visa Application form link provided in PDF format.
  2. Fill out the online visa application form accurately, ensuring that the information matches the details on your passport.
  3. Go to the Menu bar and select “File.”
  4. Choose the “Print” option and confirm the printing process.

Once the online Schengen visa application form has been printed, the applicant must proceed with the remaining steps:

  1. Sign the completed visa application form in the designated places, specifically the first signature at number 37 and the second signature right below the disclaimer at the end of the VAF.
  2. On the day of your appointment, bring the signed visa application form along with the necessary supporting documents.

It is important to emphasize that hand-filled applications will no longer be accepted at the visa application center. Therefore, it is crucial to schedule an appointment and adhere to the online application process.

Processing Time

Customers are advised to submit their Schengen visa applications up to six months prior to their intended travel date to the Schengen Area.

Please take note of the following:

The processing time for applications commences only upon receipt of the required documents by the Embassy.

To ensure a smooth process, applications must be submitted at least 15 calendar days before the intended travel date (as mentioned above) and can be submitted up to six months in advance. Failure to adhere to these deadlines may result in the Embassy deeming your application inadmissible. In such cases, your visa application will not be processed, and your passport will be promptly returned to you.

On average, the visa processing time is 15 calendar days. However, in certain instances where additional scrutiny of the application is necessary and/or when it is referred to the Danish Immigration Service, this period may be extended up to 45 calendar days.
