Description

All applicants are required to personally submit their Schengen visa application on their scheduled appointment date.

Applicants who plan to visit the Schengen Area solely for tourism purposes, such as leisure, recreation, or sightseeing, and will arrange their own accommodation (hotel, hostel, B&B, camping, etc.), should apply as tourists.

Eligibility

To be eligible for submitting a Schengen visa application, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Possess a valid travel document and a valid UK residence permit.
  2. If the applicant holds a short-stay visa for the UK (C-type visa), they must apply for a Schengen visa from their country of residence.
  3. Apply for a short-term Schengen visa to Swiss for purposes such as tourism (including minors), private visits, business, study/conference/seminar, EEA/EU and Swiss national family members, or other short-stay purposes.

Documents Required

To ensure compliance, all documents submitted must be in either English, French, Dutch, or German. Additionally, any foreign official documents must undergo legalization or possess an apostille, unless a specific exemption is outlined in a treaty.

STANDARD DOCUMENTATION FOR SCHENGEN VISA APPLICATION

Online Visa Application form (original)

Original Passport: Your original passport, along with a copy of the passport, including the signature page.

Please note that the passport should have been issued within the past ten years and be valid for at least three months beyond the requested visa’s validity. Ensure that you have at least two blank visa pages, which need not be consecutive.

Photograph: A recent passport-size photograph, taken within the last six months. The photograph should be undamaged and have a light and plain background.

UK Residence Permit/ BRP: Your original UK residence permit, accompanied by a copy. The residence permit should be valid for more than one month from the day you exit the Schengen area.

To support your Schengen visa application, you need to provide the following documentation:

EEA/EU and Swiss national’s passport or ID card (original document to be presented for verification).

A valid UK residence card and evidence of the applicant’s residence status:

It can be obtained by generating a share code through your UKVI account.

Proof of the relationship to the EU national

For spouses from Switzerland, the European Union (EU), and the European Economic Area (EEA), the following documents are required:

  1. Original passport and a copy of the spouse’s passport.
  2. Marriage certificate, which must not be older than 6 months and should be notarized. Please provide both the original and a copy of the marriage certificate. (Note: Notarization is not required for Swiss spouses.)
  3. Stamped certified translation of the marriage certificate, including both the original translation and a copy. This is necessary if the documents are not in English, German, French, Italian, or Spanish.

For Swiss/EU/EEA dependents, the following documents are required:

  1. Passport: Please provide the original passport along with a copy for both parties involved.
  2. Proof of Relationship: It is essential to submit the original birth certificate as evidence of the relationship.
  3. Certified Translation: If the documents are not in English, German, French, Italian, or Spanish, a stamped certified translation is necessary. Please provide both the original translation and a copy.
  4. Letter of Confirmation: A signed and dated letter is required to confirm the dependence and provide proof that both parties reside at the same address.

In order to ensure a smooth visa application process for minors, it is imperative that both parents sign the necessary documents. However, if one of the parents is currently residing abroad, a letter of consent, dated and signed, along with a copy of their passport, must be submitted.

The following documents are required for the visa application of minors:
– Birth certificate
– Recent British school certificate

For minors who are traveling alone or with only one parent, certain exceptions can be made if one parent has sole custody or a residence order for the child. In such cases, the following additional documents are required:

– Original or certified copies of passports of both parents
– Proof of consent of parental authority or legal guardian from both parents

In situations where sole custody is applicable, the following documents are necessary:
– Birth certificate that clearly mentions one parent
– Certificate of the absent parent or a court ruling

Proof of Travel:

Hotel booking with applicant’s name and booking confirmation number – Confirmed.

Package tour confirmation with applicant’s name, including receipt

If you are traveling by plane: confirmed booking.

If you are traveling by train: A rail ticket for you.

Alternatively, if you are traveling by car: A ferry ticket for your journey, a copy of the driver’s driving license, and vehicle insurance for your reference.

Confirmed reservation for your return ticket to the UK or any onward travel you may have planned. If you are traveling between Schengen countries, it is essential to provide proof of all means of transport and accommodation during your stay in the Schengen area.

Additional documents, even if not listed above, may be required by the Embassy. It is important to note that submitting the aforementioned documents does not guarantee automatic issuance of a visa.

Photo Specification

Please submit one current color portrait of yourself that is no older than six months that satisfies the conditions listed below:

  • Captured on a light background (white or off-white) to make features stand out and contrast with the background.
  • Face-focused and of high clarity
  • Full face: not grinning, no sunglasses, no hats or other head coverings, unless the applicant is wearing them due to his or her ethnicity or religion.
  • Printed from a camera print on standard photographic paper.
  • The photo that is adhered to the visa application form

The visa application will be deemed incomplete if the submitted photos don’t fulfill these specifications (see examples here), and the applicant will be asked to take fresh pictures in the photo booth at the visa application center.

Application Form

To apply for a visa, applicants must complete an online visa application form known as the Visa Application Form (VAF). It is important to note that the application form cannot be filled out by hand.

To begin the application process, each applicant must duly complete and print the online Schengen visa application form by following these steps:

  1. Click on the Schengen Visa Application form link provided in PDF format.
  2. Fill out the online visa application form accurately, ensuring that the information matches the details on your passport.
  3. Go to the Menu bar and select “File.”
  4. Choose the “Print” option and confirm the printing process.

Once the online Schengen visa application form has been printed, the applicant must proceed with the remaining steps:

  1. Sign the completed visa application form in the designated places, specifically the first signature at number 37 and the second signature right below the disclaimer at the end of the VAF.
  2. On the day of your appointment, bring the signed visa application form along with the necessary supporting documents.

It is important to emphasize that hand-filled applications will no longer be accepted at the visa application center. Therefore, it is crucial to schedule an appointment and adhere to the online application process.

Processing Time

The processing time for visa applications is approximately 7 working days from the date of receipt. However, it is important to note that certain Schengen States may require consultation on visa applications submitted by citizens of specific countries to other Schengen States. In such cases, the processing time may extend up to 14 working days.

Please be aware that the visa cannot be issued on the same day that the application is submitted.

Appointment:
To submit the visa application, you can visit the Visa Application Centre TLS contact. It is advisable to do so between 6 months and 15 days (about 2 weeks) before your planned travel date. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure this deadline is met during the appointment process.

Application:
Each visa application is reviewed individually, and there is no guarantee that a visa will be issued.
